Achievement! There is no better external affirmation for a career well
managed or a service well preformed than with the honor, recognition and tribute from
one’s very own peers and members of the community. Whether it’s an Emmy, Grammy,
or just a pat on the back public recognition is always your official win! PERIOD. This
article however, is just another example of the recognition for University of Arkansas
Alumni, which were recognized and bestowed with high honors in October of 2007. |

Small talk and a dimly lit ambiance which were encapsulated by a cool and breezy evening
embraced the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House on the night of Friday, October 26th, 2007.
Cocktails which enhanced the environment and served as the evening’s starters set the
stage for a ceremony befitting accomplished, seasoned and dynamic University of Arkansas
affiliated professionals. |

A small crowd of close university brass, staff, alumni, family and friends, all commenced
nostalgically in well-groomed attire to salute and pay tribute to the evening’s
honorees who all mingled for a bit in the Sturgis Hall of the Alumni House before the
actual awards ceremony began. The event which was the 63rd annual edition |

| of the Arkansas Alumni Awards Ceremony and Celebration is held annually
to recognize and award the outstanding services and accomplishments of a select few
University of Arkansas Alumni, staff and friends. |
|
|
The Arkansas Alumni Awards Celebration recognizes and highlights several areas of
professional and community service accomplishments. Select University of Arkansas
administrative officials were on hand to issue several awards with titles such as: Andrew
J. Lucas Alumni Service Award, Community Service Award, Honorary Alumni Award, Young
Alumni Award, Citation of Distinguished Alumni Award, and the Faculty Distinguished
Achievement Award. |

One very
interesting thing to note above and beyond the professional and community accomplishments
mentioned by the evening’s awardees was that they all seemed to have a strong and
unwavering commitment to family and friends. This was clearly a time to shine, and
scattered throughout the estimated crowd of 150 to 250 |
|
|
| plus people were mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, mentors,
professional colleagues, neighbors and friends. These respecters were assembled to witness
and support the deserving public recognition of the fine group of distinguished ... |
