History and Heritage is where it all begins. Triumph,
disaster, fortune, and failure are where it can all end. Fortunately for the lives of a
select few the final chapter in their lifes work is destined for the chapter on
fame! This article/report is devoted to the 15th annual Arkansas Black Hall of Fame
Induction Ceremony. The ceremony which was held this past October at the State House
Convention Center in Little Rock was my first foray into the arena the Arkansas Black Hall
of Fame, and according to a press/media release: |
|
--- |
Individuals inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame have
achieved national or international acclaim in their chosen fields of endeavor. This
years inductees include The Little Rock Nine (as a group), Sheryl Underwood, Willie
Davis, Milton Crenchaw, Judge L. Clifford Davis and John Stubblefield (Posthumous). |

The talents and resources of this select group of the well-connected and highly
accomplished was enabled by our universe to traverse from one social stratus or lifestyle
status to another all within a single lifetime. They are truly members of the Arkansas
Black bourgeoisie. The Arkansas Black Hall of Fame (ABHOF) is becoming |
|
|
|
|
| and has become one of Arkansas most notable community institutions
that is charged with not only parlaying the hard work, perseverance, and talents of black
Arkansans into high honor and recognition albeit, to also support the financial
causes of select community based non-profit organizations via the Arkansas Black Hall of
Fame Foundation. The press/media release also stated; the Hall of Fame is a highly
respected Arkansas Institution that recognizes the contributions of African Americans with
Arkansas roots. |

Founded in 1992 by Charles Stewart and Patricia Goodwin, the ABHOF annual induction
ceremony plays host to not only the upper echelons of Arkansas high society, however
it is also a place where almost anyone with the will and desire to learn more about not
only their own history and heritage but also about the rich history and heritage of other
prominent, outstanding and pioneering Arkansans. I have to |
|
|
|
| report to you that this years ceremony was nothing less than
outstanding in presentation, appeal, ambiance, and production. To reach the pinnacle of
success in this life one must contribute a kings ransom and the induction ceremony
held on the evening of Saturday, October 27th, 2007 was a kings tribute. |

When I asked Stewart, What inspired you to create the Arkansas Black Hall of
Fame, he paused a moment and responded, ... |
